Flattered: Burning Ring Of Fire

"Ring of Fire" is a country song popularized by Johnny Cash and co-written by June Carter. The single appears on Cash's 1963 compilation album, Ring of Fire: the Best of Johnny Cash.

The song was recorded on March 25, 1963 and became the biggest hit of his career, staying at number one on the charts for seven weeks.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, while also being the most obnoxious. Now, I am a huge fan of covers, they tickle my fancy (not gonna lie.) However, I wanted to share in comparison, the original with some covers (or as I call them 'blankets') of Johnny's biggest hit.

I must warn, some of these may be considered slightly disrespectful, others are decent & some I prefer:

Costume Party: Orange Knickers

I was reading a review of Tori Amos' album 'The Beekeeper', and noticed she has a song 'the power of orange knickers' (featuring Damien Rice). Heh. First, I adore Tori Amos.. and I love knickers.. so the combination was just really amusing and the song is not bad either. Overall I would recommend this album to anyone, although many fans of Ms Amos do not favor the new direction her music has taken. It definitely isn't her old work, but it is an interesting change.

Anyway, somewhere along the tracks of my mind I decided to make a themed post (costume party) about the colour orange. Unfortunately they don't seem to have much to do with their title all the time. But it's a derranged mix of songs, all favoured by me, and hopefully you will enjoy as well.

Bright Eyes - Bowl Of Oranges
Lords Of Acid - Clockwork Orange
